Firm Overview

I specialize in criminal defense law, international criminal defense law, and family law. For criminal and international criminal defense law clients, I draw on my prosecuting experience in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, my years of criminal justice research and teaching experience, and my lifelong passion for criminal law. I recognize the significance of preserving justice and am committed to protecting the rights of accused persons to insure that they are treated fairly and proficiently represented when subjected to arrest and criminal prosecution.

Why do I have an interest in family law? My wife and I adopted our daughter from Armenia in April 2006. After observing the conditions of the orphanages during our adoption process, we created the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR), Inc. (www.soar-us.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides humanitarian relief to orphaned children living in Armenia. SOAR is why I have a deep connection to family law. While my realistic side accepts the fact that families sometimes dissolve, bringing a new addition into the family is an amazingly satisfying experience.

For these reasons I offer my services in criminal defense and family law. They represent two very important practice areas. Criminal defense law protects persons from the greatest invasion the government can impose - the deprivation and restraint of individual freedom. In contrast, the family is the cornerstone of American society. The health of society depends largely upon the health of family life, and in families, the moral character of the next generation is formed. Because of the family's significance in society, its maintenance, expansion, and, sometimes, dissolution, are tasks that must be handled attentively.
