International Criminal Defense Law

  • Crimes Committed by United States Citizens Abroad

    • International drug offenses: Being arrested abroad can be a frightening experience. A person arrested outside of the United States will not know the local laws, will not know who to contact for help, may have little access to communication facilities, and may have language barriers to overcome. Moreover, depending on the country, drug arrests have severe consequences. If a family member or friend has been charged with a drug offense while travelling abroad, contact me immediately at george@yacoubian-law.com or (610) 213-3452.

    • International sexual assaults: Being arrested abroad can be a frightening experience. A person arrested outside of the United States will not know the local laws, will not know who to contact for help, may have little access to communication facilities, and may have language barriers to overcome. Being charged with a sex crime, regardless of what country has jurisdiction, often leads to harassment, intimidation, and violence. If a family member or friend has been accused of a sexual assault crime abroad, contact me immediately at george@yacoubian-law.com or (610) 213-3452.

  • Violations of International Criminal Law

    • Arms Trafficking: International crimes are more than just crimes committed outside of the United States. International crimes are also violations of international criminal law, laws that exist because of international Conventions prohibiting their commission. There are multiple Conventions that prohibit arms trafficking, and the penalties for arms trafficking convictions are severe. If a family member or friend has been arrested for arms trafficking, either in the United States or abroad, contact me immediately at george@yacoubian-law.com or (610) 213-3452.

    • Drug trafficking: International crimes are more than just crimes committed outside of the United States. International crimes are also violations of international criminal law, laws that exist because international Conventions prohibit their commission. There are multiple Conventions that prohibit drugs (narcotics) trafficking, including the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, and the 1988 Drug Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. The penalties for violating these Conventions are severe. If a family member or friend has been arrested for drug trafficking, either in the United States or abroad, contact me immediately at george@yacoubian-law.com or (610) 213-3452.

    • Genocide: Genocide is prohibited by the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. You can be prosecuted for genocide in any country and also by the International Criminal Court in The Hague (Netherlands). If a family member or friend has been charged with genocide, either in the United States or abroad, contact me immediately at george@yacoubian-law.com or (610) 213-3452.

    • Human trafficking (HT): Human trafficking (HT) involves the movement of people via violence, fraud, deception, or coercion. Generally, this movement is for the purpose of forced labor, slavery-like practices, or sexual exploitation. Labor exploitation includes slavery, forced labor, and debt bondage, while sexual exploitation typically includes abuse within the commercial sex industry. You can be prosecuted for human trafficking in any country in the world. If a family member or friend has been charged with human trafficking, either in the United States or abroad, contact me immediately at george@yacoubian-law.com or (610) 213-3452.
